The
Mycology Unit at the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital has played a key
role in the provision of the Mycology component of the Microbiology Quality
Assurance Program organised by the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia
since its inception in 1979. The idea to provide all laboratories with a set of
description sheets covering medical fungi evolved in the late 1980s and the
first edition of this book was published in 1992.
