New magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
methodologies to better understand the human body. By shaping the
electromagnetic fields inside the MRI scanner we interact with these moments,
with which we can observe the structure, physiology and biochemistry of the
human body in vivo and non-invasively. Developing new ways of manipulating the
nuclear spins can provide us not only with important tools to diagnose disease,
but also with a better understanding of the basic biological processes which
govern us.
The scope of this book is not to provide
a comprehensive overview of methods and applications but to provide a 'snapshot'
of current approaches using well established and newly emerging techniques.
Major topics coverd are:Functional Neuroimaging: A Historical Perspective,
Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS): Principles and Neuroscientific
Applications, Measurement of Brain Function Using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS),
Diffusion Tensor Imaging: Structural Connectivity Insights, Limitations and
Future Directions.
This note covers the following topics: principles of neuroimaging,
Magnetic Resonance Imaging, MRI Applications, Advanced MRI Applications and TMS,
PET, fMRI and Ultrasound, Brain Stimulation, Compressive Sensing,
Single-Molecule Biological Structure: Microwave Scanning Tunneling Microscopy of
Peptide and Machine Learning.
