This document provides an overview of Mobile WiMAX and provide the
performance for the basic minimal configuration based on the WiMAX Forum
Release-1 system profiles. It shows mobile WiMAX can provide tens of megabits
per second of capacity per channel from each base station with a baseline
configuration.
This paper performs a detailed comparison of the LTE and WiMAX
standards and delves into the intricacies of each of them. Covered topics are:
System Architecture, WiMAX Architecture, Network Reference Model, Seamless
integration with 3GPP networks, Air Interface Radio Aspects, Frequency bands,
Radio Access Modes, Air Interface Protocol Aspects and Physical Layer Control
Mechanisms.
