The Cell is focused
on the molecular biology of cells as a unifying theme, with specialized topics
discussed throughout the book as examples of more general principles. Aspects of
developmental biology, the immune system, the nervous system, and plant biology
are thus discussed in their broader biological context in chapters covering
areas such as genome structure, gene expression, DNA rearrangements, the plasma
membrane, cell signaling, and the cell cycle.
This book is written to clarify some aspects of stem cell biology, their
characteristics, assessment of damage to cells during ex vivo manipulation and
also their role in a model of cancers. Topics covered includes: Regulators of
the Proliferation of Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cells During
Hematopoietic Regeneration, Hematopoietic Stem Cell Niche, Hematopoietic Stem
Cells in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia.
This note explains the following topics related to Cellular and nuclear
reprogramming: Inducing pluripotency, Stem cells in animal models of
regeneration, Small RNAs – their biogenesis, regulation and function in
embryonic stem cells.

This note explains the following topics: Immunologic targeting
of the cancer stem cell, Immunological considerations for cell therapy using
human embryonic stem cell derivatives, Mouse models of graft-versus-host
disease, Prospects for ensuring acceptance of ES cell-derived tissues.
This note covers the following topics:
Combining stem cells and biomaterial scaffolds for constructing tissues and cell
delivery, Autologous approaches to tissue engineering, Flow perfusion culture of
mesenchymal stem cells for bone tissue engineering, Engineering
microenvironments to control stem cell fate and function, The role of bone
marrow-derived stem cells in lung regeneration and repair, Mechanical control of
stem cell differentiation, Skin tissue engineering and Molecular imaging of stem
